How to Play Designville: Merge & Design

The goal of the game is to renovate an abandoned house. Louise and Robin are renovating an abandoned house to transform it into a Design Studio—the best thing about Designville! After a brief introduction to the characters, you'll see a board with various objects. Most are cardboard boxes from the renovation. You'll open the boxes containing the objects Robin acquired for the renovation and place them on the board.

Renovations are achieved by merging objects, designing, and decorating gardens. The grid is mostly filled with boxes, but other squares contain random objects commonly found in a house, such as coffee mugs, slices of pizza, rubber gloves, and more. Most of these objects are covered in dust and cobwebs, and some can only be accessed in other levels.

Merging objects and discovering new ones will allow you to earn money that you can use for the renovation, completing tasks on a to-do list that will ultimately lead you to the renovated Design Studio. Once the Studio is up and running, Louise and Robin will start receiving orders from clients—initially friends and acquaintances, and later referrals—allowing the Studio to expand its reputation and complete more complex tasks.

There's one object on the grid that's crucial to start merging: a yellow bag full of cork pushpins. Left-click on the yellow bag to fill all the empty spaces on the board with pushpins. This is where they merge. Start merging all the pushpins. It takes two pushpins to create another object: an eraser. As you merge, you'll have more free space on the board, so keep clicking and merging.

2 cork pushpins = 1 eraser
2 erasers = 1 sticky note
2 sticky notes = 1 ruler
2 rulers = 1 round ruler
2 protractors = 1 pencil
2 pencils = 1 highlighter
2 highlighters = 1 compass
2 compasses = 1 stapler
2 staplers = 1 color swatch
